Ships
This article will explain how to add ships as well as ship types and cargo types to Helm CONNECT.
Ships
Use the Ships tab in Ships, under Setup, to build and manage a list of all the ships you perform work for.
Tip In addition to the ships you perform work for, you can also add the ships your competitors perform work for.
You can also use the Ships tab to review and edit the orders for selected ships, filtered by area and date.
Note If you don't have permission for the division in which an order took place or is taking place, you'll be able to view the order from the Ships tab, but you won't be able to edit any of its details.
Ship Types
Ship types are a useful way to organize ships into groups and subgroups. When you set up your billing, you can create different rates for different ship types. You can also use ship types to report on the types of ships you have performed work for.
Use the Ship Types tab to build and manage your list of ship types:
- Arrange your ship types into a hierarchy
- Add accounting codes
- Add default cargo types
ExampleYou could create three ship types called Tanker, Oil Tanker, and Chemical Tanker. You could arrange your ship types so that oil tankers and chemical tankers were listed as types of tankers. You could also add optional accounting codes and default cargo types.
Cargo Types
In order to track cargo types on your orders:
- Use the Cargo Types tab to build and manage your list of cargo types.
- Use the Ship Types tab to configure default cargo types for your ship types.
