Deprecating IE 11 in Version 1.21
In Helm CONNECT Version 1.21, we'll stop supporting Internet Explorer 11 (IE 11) and begin supporting Microsoft Edge. If you're currently using IE 11, we recommend that you start transitioning to one of our supported browsers (latest released versions of Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge) to avoid any disruption to your use of Helm CONNECT.
Why are we making this change?
First released in November 2013, IE 11 was the final version of Microsoft's Internet Explorer web browser. Microsoft ended mainstream support for IE 11 in January 2016, and no longer provides feature or performance improvements for the Internet Explorer platform.
As Internet Explorer hasn't been supported by Microsoft for more than four years, it's no longer compatible with current web technologies or development standards, and has significantly worse performance than other browsers.
Since the release of Windows 10 in 2016, Microsoft has provided full support only for its Microsoft Edge browser platform and, as of January 2020, Microsoft Edge has been compatible with every major operating system.
What does this mean for you?
Beginning with Version 1.21 of Helm CONNECT, we'll no longer be testing our releases for compatibility with IE 11 or providing bug fixes for any issues reported with IE 11. Any customers who continue to use IE 11 after we release Version 1.21 may find that some features become unusable or that the application becomes inaccessible.
If you're currently using IE 11, we encourage you to begin planning your transition to the latest versions of either Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge now to prevent any disruption to your use of Helm CONNECT.
