Logbook: Configure Commodities and Commodity Types
Before you can log any cargo or fluid entries, you must set up your commodity types and commodities. These define the materials you are tracking, such as fuel, water, or dry cargo, and the units of measurement you will use.
Set Up Commodity Types
Commodity types categorize your materials as dry, liquid, or fluid. The units you select here will control how quantities are entered for any commodities linked to this type.
NoteYou can delete or archive commodity types if they’re no longer needed. However, a commodity type can’t be deleted if commodities are using it. If you try to delete one that’s still in use, you’ll see an error message.
To create a commodity type
- Go to the Setup > Logbook > Commodity Types tab.
- Click the plus icon in the toolbar in the upper right corner of the tab.
- In the New Commodity Type window, complete these fields:
- Name
- Attribute (Dry, Liquid, or Fluid)
- Applicable Units
- Click SAVE.
Set Up Commodities
Each commodity represents a specific material or product, such as diesel fuel or potable water.
NoteYou can delete commodities if they’re no longer needed. If a commodity has already been used in events or activities, you can archive it instead. Archived commodities will display “is Deleted” in brackets when viewing past entries.
