About the Platform

Our "platform" is our base product, which you can view as the foundation your Helm CONNECT environment is built on. The platform includes the common features and functionality shared by all our customers. Regardless of the product lines or modules you subscribe to, you'll first need to configure the platform features and functions.

Setting up your platform means putting these foundations in place. Getting them right up front keeps everything you do afterward accurate and easy to manage.

Company

Your company is your organizational structure: your divisions, departments, and locations. Setting it up first lets the rest of Helm CONNECT mirror how your business is organized, so you can filter, report, and control access by division from the start. See "Overview of Your Company."

Users and People

Your people are the employees and crew you track in Helm CONNECT, and your users are the people who can log in. Not everyone you track is a user, since some crew share a login or don't log in at all. Set up your roles and positions, add your people, give the ones who need access a user account, and record their nationalities. See "Overview of Users and People."

Assets

Your assets are the vessels and equipment you track in Helm CONNECT. Set up your assets, asset types, and asset groups so your fleet is organized and easy to work with across every product line. See "Overview of Assets."

Work Spaces

Your work spaces are the places in Onboard where your crew organize their tasks, corrective actions, and checklists by who should see and work on them. They're flexible, so you might set up one space for the captain, another for the mate, and another for the rest of the crew. See "Set Up Spaces."
