Crew Certifications: Approve or Deny Certification Requests
When a crew member adds one of their own certifications from My Helm, it doesn't go straight onto their record. It comes to you first as a request, so you can check it and decide whether to approve it. Reviewing these promptly keeps everyone's certifications current and your compliance picture accurate.
You'll do this on the Management > Certifications > Crew Certifications tab, in the Requests view.
See What's Waiting
Switch to the Requests view to see the certifications your crew have submitted. A red dot appears on the Requests button whenever requests are waiting on a decision, so you know at a glance when there's something to review. Each request shows the crew member, the certification, and a reference number.
Selecting a request opens its details in the side panel, where you can review what the crew member entered and any document they attached before you decide.
Approve or Deny a Request
You approve or deny a request by setting its status. When you set it to Approved, the certification moves onto the crew member's record and shows as On File. When you set it to Denied, the certification is marked Denied and doesn't join their on-file certifications.
To approve or deny a request
- Go to the Management > Certifications > Crew Certifications tab.
- Click Requests.
- Select the request you want to review.
- Click Edit.
- From the Status list, select Approved to approve the request, or Denied to deny it.
- Click Save.
