Work Rest: Set Up Shifts
Shifts are templates that allow you to fill a crew member's schedule in quickly with the correct distribution of working, resting, on watch and/or traveling time. Shifts are organized into groups called shift types which can be assigned to specific assets to ensure that those assets see only the shift types that apply to them.
To add shift types and shifts
- On the Personnel > Schedule > Work Rest tab, click the Settings button to display the Settings window.
- From the menu bar on the left, click Shifts.
- Click MANAGE SHIFTS.
- In the Enter Shift Type Name field, enter a name for the shift type, for example "Underway" or "Tied Up."
- To add a shift, do the following:
- In the Enter a Shift Name field, enter a name for the shift.
- On the grid, select a time period then click the appropriate status button in the header.
- Repeat step 5c for each time period in the shift until you've configured the full 24 hours.
- (Optional) Repeat step 5 to add additional shifts.
- Click SAVE.
To assign shift types to assets
- On the Personnel > Schedule > Work Rest tab, click the Settings button to display the Settings window.
- From the menu bar on the left, click Shifts.
- (Optional) Click the Filter button to display the Schedule Filters window. Select the specific divisions and assets by which you want to filter the displayed list of assets, then click Apply.
- (Optional) Select the UNASSIGNED check box to display only those assets that don't yet have an assigned shift type.
- Do one of the following:
- To assign assets one at a time, to the right of each asset's name, select the check box that represents the shift type you want to assign.
- To assign all the assets that are currently visible, select the check box in the header of the table that represents the shift type you want to assign.
- Click SAVE.
