Differences Between Planned and Unplanned Crew Changes
Planned and unplanned crew changes are similar in many ways, but there are also some key differences. Planned crew changes are created on shore and published to the asset. Unplanned crew changes are recorded onboard without being planned on shore.
Planned Crew Changes
- Are created on the Personnel > Schedule > Crew Changes tab, or by drawing schedules on the Personnel > Schedule > Schedule tab.
- Are completed onboard on the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab, once shore publishes them to the asset.
- Can also be opened from the Upcoming Work widget on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab, if you subscribe to the Logbook module.
- Can be configured to trigger a form when they're completed on the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab, if you subscribe to Helm CONNECT Compliance.
Unplanned Crew Changes
- Are recorded on the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab, or on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab if you subscribe to the Logbook module.
- Can crew on or off one person (Single Crew Change) or several people at the same time (Multi Crew Changes).
- Can't be configured to trigger a form.
Completing either type of crew change updates the asset's current crew and the schedule right away. If your approval policy requires shore approval, both types appear on the Pending tab until someone on shore approves or denies them.
