Helm CONNECT Maintenance
Mobile-Friendly Requisitions
We improved the Onboard > Requisitions > Requisitions tab to make it easier to use on mobile devices, such as phones and tablets. These updates make the workflow fully responsive for mobile while keeping the desktop experience unchanged.
Here’s what’s new:
- Redesigned Requisition and Line Item cards for better visibility and usability on smaller screens.
- Configurable cards so you can choose which fields to display.
- Touch-friendly layouts with larger buttons and improved spacing.
- A slide-out filter tray that keeps filters accessible but out of the way when not in use.
- Smart scrolling that hides the header when you scroll down and reappears when you scroll up.
- Full-width pop-up windows (such as Notes, Linked Items, Responsible Parties, and Field Configuration) with dedicated Close buttons for easier navigation.
To save screen space, some desktop-only features are hidden on mobile devices:
- Reordering line items
- Creating requisition templates
- Viewing the External Number field
- Accessing the settings icon in the Linked Item window
- Using Bulk Actions to update multiple requisitions
- Exporting line items
- Viewing the change log
Two New Ways to Manage Low-Stock Parts
We added two new options to help you stay on top of low-stock parts and choose the workflow that fits the way your team works.
- Use the Shopping List to review low-stock parts and build requisitions: The new Shopping List tabs under Maintenance > Requisitions and Onboard > Requisitions bring all tracked parts that fall below their minimum quantities into one place so you can review them and build requisitions more efficiently. From there, you can select multiple parts, adjust quantities, check for pending requests, search across assets, and use filters such as division, asset, vendor, or critical spare to create consolidated requisitions with fewer steps. This option is ideal for teams who prefer to review and manage their purchasing decisions directly.
- Automatically create requisitions for low-stock parts: Helm CONNECT can also create a requisition automatically as soon as a tracked part drops below its minimum quantity based on real part consumption—for example, when completing a task or checklist that uses that part. To use this option, we added a new Reorder checkbox you can select while editing a part on the Setup > Parts > Parts tab. Each asset has one automatically generated requisition per day, and any additional below-minimum parts are added to that same requisition throughout the day. These automatic requisitions are clearly labeled as created by “Helm System,” making them easy to identify. This option is ideal for teams who prefer an automated workflow with minimal oversight.
Together, these options let you choose an automated workflow, a review-first workflow, or a mix of both—depending on how you prefer to manage purchasing and inventory.
Manually Enter Running Hours at Completion
We added a new "Running Hours At Completion – Manual" field to maintenance checklists, which allows you to manually enter the completion hours for a cumulative reading when necessary. When you enter a value in this field, Helm CONNECT uses it to determine when the next checklist is due, replacing the cumulative hours at the time of the inspection date in the calculation. The checklist and history view display both the system-calculated hours and any manually entered hours.
NoteWe added a new tenant-level permission for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
Sort the Space Column on the Advanced Search (Beta) Tab
You can now sort the Space column on the Maintenance > Overview > Advanced Search (Beta) tab in either ascending (A–Z) or descending (Z–A) order.
Storage Location Button Not Visible for Customers Without Storage Locations
The “Select Storage Location” button in inventory checklists is now hidden if no storage locations are configured in the system. This reduces clutter and confusion for customers who don’t use this feature.
Auto-Fill Component on Maintenance Tasks
Tasks generated from Fail/Pass items in maintenance checklists now auto-fill the Component field based on the component selected in the Maintenance template. Users can remove or change the auto-filled component if needed.
Multi-Select People Selection Lists Remain Open for Multiple Selections
Lists where you can select the names of one or more people—such as the Notify and Assignee lists on tasks—now stay open after each selection, allowing you to continue selecting without reopening the list. Previously, these lists closed after each selection.
Helm CONNECT Compliance
Create Corrective Actions from Private Forms
You can now create corrective actions directly from private (role-limited) forms. When you do, a warning message appears to let you know that the corrective action won’t be private and will be visible to authorized users. The original private form remains private, ensuring sensitive information stays protected, while the corrective action can be managed and tracked as usual.
Improvements to Forms
We made the following improvements to forms:
- Form Titles in Notification Emails: If the Title field is completed on a form, the title is included in the notification emails sent to responsible parties.
- Form Labels in Notification Emails: If the Label field is completed on a form, the label is included in the notification emails sent to responsible parties.
- Form Labels on Cards: Cards on the My Helm > To Do > My Work tab and on the Onboard > Logs > [Space Name] tabs now display the Form Label, making it easier to identify specific forms at a glance.
Multi-Select People Selection Lists Remain Open for Multiple Selections
Lists where you can select the names of one or more people—such as the Notify and Assignee lists on corrective actions—now stay open after each selection, allowing you to continue selecting without reopening the list. Previously, these lists closed after each selection.
Helm CONNECT Logistics
Helm CONNECT Jobs is Now Logistics
We rebranded Helm CONNECT Jobs as Helm CONNECT Logistics to reflect how this product has grown beyond its original focus on dispatching and billing harbor docking jobs. In-app, you’ll see “Logistics” where you previously saw “Jobs,” both onboard and on shore. Your existing data and workflows remain the same; only the labels on some items have changed. For more details, see the blog post Big Changes on the Horizon: Helm CONNECT Jobs Will Soon Become Logistics.
Print Multiple Master and Billing Logs
You can now print Master Logs and Billing Logs from both the Logbook and Voyages tabs.
- Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab: We added a new option under the More menu called Print Multiple Reports to open the Print Report dialog, where you can select the report type, specify a date range, and apply filters as needed.
- Jobs > Dispatch > Voyages tab: We added a new Print Reports button to open the Print Report dialog, where you can select the report type, specify a date range, and apply filters as needed.
For more details, see the article Print Master and Billing Logs.
Complete Multiple Crew Changes from the Logbook Tab
We added a new “Multi Crew Changes” button on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab so you can complete multiple crew changes at once. Previously, you could only complete single crew changes from the Logbook.
NoteWe added a new tenant-level permission for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
Access Planned Crew Changes from the Upcoming Work Widget on the Logbook Tab
Planned crew changes are now integrated with the Upcoming Work widget on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab. Clicking a crew change card in this widget opens the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab so you can apply updates directly.
Log a Commodity Transfer Between Assets
We added a new “Transfer Commodity Between Assets” activity type on the Setup > Events > Activity Types tab, which lets you record a commodity transfer between two assets as a single activity instead of two separate ones. You can use it to transfer commodities between two primary assets, two attached assets, or between a primary and an attached asset. For more details, see the article Log a Commodity Transfer Between Assets.
NoteWe added a new tenant-level permission for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
Configure PO Number and Trip Number Fields on Voyages
We added a new Setup > Field Configurations > Voyage Configuration tab that lets you add PO Number and Trip Number fields for your voyages. For more details, see the article Add PO Number and Trip Number Fields to Voyages.
Generate Manual Invoices and Credit Notes for Voyages
We added the ability to manually generate invoices and credit notes for your voyages. On the Logistics > Dispatch > Voyages tab, when you open a selected voyage, you’ll see a new Generate Invoices button in the top-right corner. You can use it to manually create Accounts Receivable (AR) or Accounts Payable (AP) invoices, including credits, on a per-voyage basis.
This feature helps when billing rules or agreements vary from voyage to voyage or when multiple customers must be billed for a single voyage. You can also use it to record voyage-related expenses or issue credits for unused time. For more details, see the article Generate Manual Invoices and Credit Notes for Your Voyages.
Configure Mile Marker and Owner Fields on Location Types
You can now add Mile Marker and Owner fields to your location types. On the Setup > Locations > Location Types tab, edit a location type and click Configure to set the Mile Marker and Owner fields to Show or Hide, and Required or Not Required.
When you assign that location type to a location, the corresponding fields appear so you can enter:
- Mile Marker: A value in the format XXXXX.XX (1–5 digits, a decimal, then 2 digits).
- Owner: A name or other identifying text, up to 255 characters.
When you log events or activities on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab or the Logistics > Dispatch > Voyages tab, the Mile Marker and Owner values you entered appear in read-only fields next to each location. For more details, see the article Add Mile Marker and Owner Fields to Your Location Types.
Configure Routes and Route Segments
We added a new Routes tab under Setup > Locations that lets you configure routes and route segments with multiple locations. This is in preparation for future functionality that will allow you to assign assets to routes.
NoteWe added a new tenant-level permission for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
Billing Improvements
We added several enhancements to improve accuracy and flexibility in your billing workflows.
Ignore Daylight Saving Time in Billing Calculations
We added a new Ignore DST in Billing Calculations option on the Setup > Invoicing > Billing Settings tab. This setting controls how daylight saving time (DST) affects your billing calculations.
- When enabled, billing calculations ignore DST changes between two dates and treat the time as if no DST transition occurred.
- When disabled, billing calculations include DST changes and reflect any added or missing hours.
This setting is turned off by default after the upgrade and applies only to orders in areas that use time zones.
Tooltip for Invoiced Billing Intervals
We added a tooltip notification to explain why an order can’t be assigned to a specific billing interval. If you try to assign an order to a billing interval that’s already been invoiced, the tooltip clarifies that invoiced intervals can’t include new trips. This improvement helps prevent billing errors and workflow interruptions.
Assign Billing Type to Tax Types
We added a new Tax Charge category to Billing Types so you can classify tax-related charges more clearly. You can now assign a billing type to each tax type, ensuring tax charges carry the correct classification automatically. Once a tax type with an assigned billing type is added to rates in a contract or tariff, it’s applied automatically to the related transaction lines. This reduces manual work and keeps invoices consistent.
Correct Billing Status for “No Charge” Trips
We fixed an issue that caused trips marked as “No Charge” to display the billing status “Ready to Bill” in trip reports. These trips now display the correct status, “No Charge,” in the following reports:
- Trips
- Trip Revenue
- Interval Billing Trips
- Job Revenue
This change ensures billing reports match the behavior in Jobs > Billing > Overview and improves clarity across your billing and reporting processes.
Helm CONNECT Personnel
Automated Email Notifications for Expiring Crew Certifications
We added automated email notifications to the new Crew Certifications module to alert users about expiring crew certifications.
- Crew members: When the Email Crew checkbox is selected on the Management > Certifications > Certification Types tab, crew members automatically receive reminder emails based on the configured lead times. By default, each certification triggers notifications at 30, 60, and 90 days before expiration, but you can customize these default notifications, remove them, or add more as needed.
- Responsible parties: If a certification type has been assigned a responsible party on the Management > Certifications > Responsible Parties tab, that person also receives expiry notifications for certifications of that type.
Improvements to the Work Rest Module
We made the following improvements and fixes to the Work Rest module:
- Improved the mobile experience when using Work Rest.
- Fixed a bug in the Work Rest report in My Helm that prevented confirmations from being included.
Improvements to the Timesheets Module
We made the following improvements and fixes to the Timesheets module:
- Added a new setting on the Timesheets > Settings tab to control Bulk Add and Bulk Confirm by Space.
- Added filtering to several columns in the Timesheets grid. You can now right-click a column header to filter its contents.
- Fixed an issue where using the Generate from Trip feature sometimes didn’t populate the trip.
- Fixed an issue where the Generate from Trip feature didn’t calculate correctly when no crew were signed off.
Improvements to the Crew Scheduling Module
We made the following improvements to the Crew Scheduling module:
- Added a new Safe Manning feature that shows whether the certification requirements set up in Management > Certifications > Certification Requirements > Safe Manning are met. This applies only to customers using the new Crew Certifications module.
- Added new options to Crew Scheduling Settings:
- Show Certification Warnings: Toggles whether certification warnings appear on the schedule bars for individual crew (default: true).
- Show Safe Manning: Toggles whether the Safe Manning row appears for the crew complement (default: false).
- Historical Warning Window: Defines how many months the schedule looks back to flag certification issues. Recommended: 1–2 months (default: 1 month for new tenants; null for existing tenants).
- Added a new Qualified checkbox on the Crew tab so you can filter the crew list to show only those qualified to fill a position on the vessel schedule.
- Added the option to display the Asset Phone Number and Asset Email in the Calendar (configured under settings).
- Added the ability to include notes on time-off requests and to specify whether a request is an “All day” request.

Onboard > Logbook > Multi Crew Change
We added a new permission that allows users to perform multiple crew changes directly from the Logbook tab. This permission will be automatically turned on for tenants that already have the Onboard > Logbook > Single Crew Changes permission, but will remain off for individual users.
Permissions for the New Shopping List Tab in Requisitions
We added a new group of permissions that provide access to the new Shopping List tab in Requisitions:
- Maintenance > Requisitions > Shopping List: Provides access to the Shopping List tab on shore. This permission will be automatically turned on for tenants or users who already have both Inventory > Inventory > Parts and Maintenance > Requisitions > Requisitions permissions.
- Onboard > Requisitions > Shopping List: Provides access to the Shopping List tab onboard. This permission will be automatically turned on for tenants or users who already have both Onboard > Inventory > Parts and Onboard > Requisitions > Requisitions permissions.

api/v1/jobs/orders/findorders
We made the following changes to this endpoint:
- Added a new
IsBillablefield to the response. - Added a new
includeTemplatesparameter. Its default value is True, so there’s no change in behavior if you don’t include it.
api/v2/public/parts
We added a new Reorder field to this endpoint and made it available as a filter option.
