Logbook: Add Mile Marker and Owner Fields to Location Types
You can add Mile Marker and Owner fields to your location types so users can see more information about each location when logging events or activities. When you log events or activities on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab or the Logistics > Dispatch > Voyages tab, the Mile Marker and Owner values you entered appear in read-only fields next to those locations.
Configure the Fields on a Location Type
You can configure the Mile Marker and Owner fields to show or hide, and be required or not required for each location type.
To configure Mile Marker and Owner fields for a location type
- Go to the Setup > Locations > Location Types tab.
- Select an existing location type, then click Configure.
- In the Mile Marker or Owner fields, set the following values:
- Show or Hide
- Required or Not Required
- Click Save.
Enter Mile Marker and Owner Values for Each Location
If the Mile Marker and Owner fields are set to Show on a location type, you can enter values for them when you assign that type to a location. If the fields are set to Required, you must enter values before saving.
To enter Mile Marker and Owner values
- Go to the Setup > Locations > Locations tab.
- Create a new location or edit an existing one.
- From the Location Type list, select the location type you configured.
- Enter the values for the fields you added:
- Mile Marker: Enter a value in the format XXXXX.XX (1–5 digits, a decimal, then 2 digits).
- Owner: Enter a name or other identifying text, up to 255 characters.
- Click Save.
