Logbook: Understand the Daily vs. Per-Visit Attributes in Manifest
The Manifest grid shows two types of attributes: daily and per-visit. Understanding the difference helps you set up your manifest attribute types correctly and track passenger activities the way you need.
Daily Attributes
Daily attributes are activities or services you track separately for each day a passenger is aboard. When you check a daily attribute on Monday, it doesn't automatically check for Tuesday—you need to check it again each day it happens.
When to use daily attributes
Use daily attributes for things that happen repeatedly and might vary from day to day:
- Meals (breakfast, lunch, dinner)
- Daily services
- Daily activities
- Things you charge for each day they happen
How daily attributes work
- They appear on the right side of the Manifest grid
- Each day starts with all daily attributes unchecked
- You check them each day as activities happen
- Different days can have different values—Tuesday's checkboxes don't affect Wednesday's
ExampleYou set up "Breakfast," "Lunch," and "Dinner" as daily attributes. On Monday, a passenger has breakfast and lunch but eats dinner ashore, so you check "Breakfast" and "Lunch" but leave "Dinner" unchecked. On Tuesday, they have all three meals, so you check all three boxes. Each day tracks independently.
Per-Visit Attributes
Per-visit attributes are activities or services you track once for the entire boarding period. When you check a per-visit attribute, it stays checked for every day the passenger is aboard.
When to use per-visit attributes
Use per-visit attributes for things that happen once during a boarding:
- Safety orientation
- PPE issuance
- Vessel tour
- Emergency drill
- Badge or credential issuance
- One-time setup or administrative tasks
How per-visit attributes work
- They appear pinned on the left side of the Manifest grid
- When you check one, it shows checked for all days of the boarding
- When you uncheck one, it shows unchecked for all days of the boarding
- You can't have different values for different days—it's all or nothing
ExampleYou set up "Safety Orientation" as a per-visit attribute. When a passenger boards, you give them the orientation and check the box. The box stays checked for every day of their boarding. If you navigate to any date during their stay, you'll see "Safety Orientation" checked.
How to Tell Which Type You're Looking At
- Location in grid: Daily attributes are on the right, per-visit attributes are on the left (pinned)
- Tooltip: Hover over any column header and you'll see a tooltip that tells you whether it's "Daily" or "Per-Visit"
Choosing the Right Type When You Set Up Attributes
When you create a manifest attribute type in Setup > Logbook > Manifest Attribute Types, you decide whether it's daily or per-visit by checking or unchecking the Daily checkbox:
- Daily checkbox checked: It's a daily attribute
- Daily checkbox unchecked: It's a per-visit attribute
NoteOnce you save a manifest attribute type, you can't change whether it's daily or per-visit. Make sure you choose the right type based on how often the activity happens during a boarding.
