Logbook: Complete Crew Changes from the Logbook Tab
You can crew people on or off right from the Logbook tab. Use a single crew change for one crew member, or a multi crew change when several people crew on or off at the same time. When shore publishes a crew change for your asset, you can open it from the Logbook tab too.
The buttons you see depend on your permissions. With both the Onboard > Logbook > Single Crew Change and Onboard > Logbook > Multi Crew Changes permissions, you'll see a Crew Changes button that opens a menu with both options. With only one of them, you'll see a Single Crew Change or Multi Crew Changes button instead. For multi crew changes, you also need the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes > Multi Crew Changes permission.
Complete a Single Crew Change
To complete a single crew change
- Go to the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab.
- From the Asset list, select your asset.
- Click Crew Changes, then select Single Crew Change.
- Under Type of Crew Change, select Crew On or Crew Off.
- In the Time and date fields, enter when the crew member crewed on or off.
- From the Choose Crew Member list, select the crew member. For a crew off, the list shows only the crew who are onboard at the time and date you entered.
- For a crew on, complete the fields that appear, such as Position, Cost Center, and Position Group.
- (Optional) In the Note field, enter a note about the crew change.
- (Optional) If you have more crew changes to record, select Stay Open. When you save, the window stays open and keeps the same type of crew change and time and date, so you can enter the next crew member.
- Click Save.
Complete a Multi Crew Change
Multi Crew Changes opens the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab. When you save, you return to the Logbook tab.
To complete a multi crew change
- Go to the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab.
- From the Asset list, select your asset.
- Click Crew Changes, then select Multi Crew Changes.
- (Optional) From the Location list, select where the crew change takes place, and in the Description field, enter a description.
- Under Crew On, select a crew member from the Crew list for each position. If no positions are listed, or you need more, use Add Crew, Add Position, or Add Position Group. Remove any position no one is filling.
- Under Crew Off, select the checkbox next to each crew member who is leaving. To crew off everyone onboard now, click Current Crew. To crew off everyone who crewed on in the last crew change, click Last Crew Change.
- Enter the actual date and time for each crew member. To use the same date and time for everyone, enter it in the Actual Date and Time fields at the top, then click Set All. You can't crew someone on more than 4 hours ahead of the current time.
- To enter more details for a crew member, click the double arrow icon on their row.
- Click Save. You return to the Logbook tab.
Complete a Planned Crew Change
When shore publishes a crew change for your asset, it appears as a card in the Upcoming Work widget on the Logbook tab. The card shows how many crew are coming on and going off, and when the crew change is due. Click the card to open the crew change on the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab, where you can complete it. To learn how, see "Crew Scheduling: Complete Crew Changes on the Crew Changes Tab."
TipTo check who is onboard after a crew change, use the Current Crew widget on the Logbook tab. It lists the crew onboard your asset now, with their positions. Click a name to open that crew member's record on the Onboard > Personnel > Crew tab in a new browser tab.
