Payroll: Set Up Payroll Class Mappings
In complex maritime operations, the asset a crew member works on can change how they should be paid. For example, a captain who is typically paid at a junior rate might need to be paid at a senior rate when working on a larger or more complex vessel. Payroll class mappings let you create payroll class assignments by asset and position, simplifying the management of your payroll schemes.
For information on creating payroll classes, see "Payroll: Set Up Payroll Classes."
Set Up Payroll Class Mappings
You can set up payroll class mappings on the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Class Mappings tab.
To create a payroll class mapping
- Go to the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Class Mappings tab.
- From the Asset list, select the asset you want to map.
- From the Position list, select the position you want to map.
- From the Payroll Class list, select the payroll class to apply for this asset and position combination.
- Click the save icon in the upper right.
To delete a payroll class mapping
- Go to the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Class Mappings tab.
- Click the remove icon (-) to the left of the mapping you want to delete.
- Click the save icon in the upper right.
Use Payroll Class Mappings in Payroll Schemes
For payroll class mappings to take effect, you need to configure your payroll schemes to use them. Under the Timesheets and Crew Changes targets, the Payroll Class Source field includes a From Mapping option. When you select From Mapping, payroll is calculated using the assignments you set up on the Payroll Class Mappings tab, rather than relying on the default payroll class from a crew member's profile or crew change entry.
