Payroll: Escalate Payroll Rates
When pay rates change across your organization (for example, after an annual rate negotiation), updating each rate one at a time can be time-consuming. The Escalate Rates feature on the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Classes tab lets you apply a percentage or fixed amount increase to multiple payroll class rates at once. You can also plan ahead and escalate rates months before they take effect, without affecting your current rates.
You can escalate payroll rates from the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Classes tab. From here, you can also preview the results of your changes and make adjustments before saving.
To escalate payroll rates
- Go to the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Classes tab.
- Click Escalate Rates.
- (Optional) In the Filters section, use the following filters to narrow which payroll class rates are affected:

- Payroll Classes: Select one or more payroll classes to limit the escalation to those classes.
- Earning Codes: Select one or more earning codes to limit the escalation to those codes.
- Payroll Class Type: Select All, Only Active, or Only Inactive to limit the escalation by payroll class status.
- Rate Type: Select All, Base Rates, or Regular Rates to limit the escalation by rate type.

- Click Preview to review the proposed new rates. For each rate, you can adjust the Rate, Quantity, Pay Out Factor, Bank Accrual Factor, and Effective Date fields before saving.
- Click Save.
- In the Confirm Changes window, click Save to apply the escalation.
