Helm CONNECT Maintenance
We made the following changes to Helm CONNECT Maintenance in this release.
Record the Vendor Who Resolved a Task or Corrective Action
You can now record a vendor as the one who resolved a task or corrective action, instead of only a person. When someone finishes the work, the "Who was this resolved by?" field lists your vendors alongside your people, so the record shows who did the job when you contract the work out.
This is turned off by default. To use it, show the Resolved By Vendor field in one of two places:
For all tasks or corrective actions: on the Setup > Field Configurations > Tasks, Attached Asset Tasks, Corrective Actions and Attached Asset Corrective Actions tabs.
For one type: on the Setup > Maintenance > Task Types or Setup > Compliance > Corrective Action Types tab.
More about this feature:
We updated our report data sources for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Reports.
We updated our API for this feature. See Helm CONNECT API.
Save Requisitions as Drafts Before You Publish Them
You can now save a requisition as a draft while you're still putting it together, and publish it only when it's ready. Previously, every requisition you saved was live straight away, so unfinished requests showed up in your lists, counted towards your part quantities, and notified your responsible parties before you meant them to.
We added a new Save Draft button to individual requisitions on the Maintenance > Requisitions > Requisitions and Onboard > Requisitions > Requisitions tabs. Drafts show a Draft status in your requisition lists, and you can hide them with the new Show Drafts toggle.
Until you publish a draft, it doesn't count towards part quantities, appear in component lists, checklists or corrective actions, or notify your responsible parties. When you're ready, click Save to publish it. Publishing is permanent, so you can't turn a published requisition back into a draft.
More about this feature:
We updated our report data sources for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Reports.
We updated our API for this feature. See Helm CONNECT API.
Require More Fields on Your Tasks and Corrective Actions
You can now require more fields on your tasks and corrective actions:
Primary Asset Tasks: Assignee, Vendors, Scheduled, and Parts Used.
Attached Asset Tasks: Assignee, Vendors, and Scheduled.
Primary Asset Corrective Actions: Assignee and Vendors.
Attached Asset Corrective Actions: Assignee and Vendors.
Previously, these fields were always optional, so an item could be closed with no record of who did the work, which vendors were involved, when it was planned, or which parts were used.
Set the rule in one of two places:
For all tasks or corrective actions (primary and attached asset): on the Setup > Field Configurations > Tasks, Attached Asset Tasks, Corrective Actions and Attached Asset Corrective Actions tabs.
For one type of task or corrective action (primary and attached asset): on the Setup > Maintenance > Task Types or Setup > Compliance > Corrective Action Types tab.
For each field, choose "Not required," "Always required," or "Only required on completion." Parts Used offers "Not required" or "Only required on completion." Required fields are marked with a red asterisk, and the task or corrective action can't be saved or completed until they're filled in.
We also added a count to the Parts Used tab on a task, so you can see how many parts have been recorded without opening the tab.
Use Exclude and Skip on Effective Date Schedules
You can now use Exclude and Skip on templates that are scheduled by effective date, so checklists that fall during a pause are skipped instead of coming back overdue. With Exclude and Skip, the due date moves to the first regular due date after the activity ends, so the template stays on its usual schedule.
When you open a template on the Setup > Templates > Maintenance and Setup > Templates > Inspections tabs and select Exclude in its Template Activities window, the Exclusion Behavior list now offers Exclude and Skip alongside Exclude. Previously the list was hidden for these templates, so their checklists were hidden while the activity ran and then came back on their original due dates.
We also made each option's description clearer about which schedules it applies to, and the template change log now shows the exclusion behavior by name instead of the value stored behind it.
Helm CONNECT Compliance
We made the following changes to Helm CONNECT Compliance in this release.
Create Tasks Directly from Your Audit Findings
You can now raise a task directly from a finding on an audit. Previously, a corrective action was the only thing you could record against a finding, so routine follow-up work had to be created separately in Maintenance and matched back to the audit by hand.
On the Compliance > Audits > Audits tab, each finding now has an Add Task button next to the Add Corrective Action button. Choose whether the task is for an asset, for shore, or for an attached asset, then fill it in as you would anywhere else.
Your tasks are listed under the finding along with its corrective actions, and they're published when you publish the audit. Each one shows the audit name in its Source field, and you can click through to the audit if you have access to it. Unlike a corrective action, an outstanding task doesn't stop the audit from finishing.
More about this feature:
We added a new permission that controls access to this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
We updated our report data sources for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Reports.
We updated our API for this feature. See Helm CONNECT API.
Control Who Can Post and Change Notes on Behalf of Other People
You can now control, role by role, who can post a note under someone else's name and who can change or remove notes written by other people. Previously, anyone who could open a note could pick any person from the Posted By list, and could edit or delete any note no matter who wrote it.
Now the Posted By and Edited By lists only appear for people whose role allows it. Everyone else posts notes under their own name. In the same way, the edit and delete icons only appear on your own notes, unless your role allows you to change or remove other people's.
Asset installations that share a single login still show the Posted By list, so crew can record who wrote each note.
Note We updated the permissions for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
Filter Your Onboard Logs by Status
You can now filter your logs by status, so you can go straight to the work that's already underway. On your Onboard > Logs tabs, use the new Checklist Status filter to see only the items that are In Progress or Not Started. Previously, an item you had started was mixed in with everything else in the Beyond This Week section, and you had to scroll to find it again.
Keep Your Attachments When You Duplicate a Form Template
You can now duplicate a form template without losing its attachments. When you duplicate a template on the Setup > Templates > Forms tab, any files attached to it are copied across to the new template along with the rest of the content. Previously, you had to attach them again by hand. This brings form templates in line with your inspection, maintenance and inventory templates, which already worked this way.
Faster Loading on Your Onboard Documents Library
We improved the Onboard > Documents > Library tab, so it opens faster on assets that carry a lot of attached files.
Helm CONNECT Logistics
We made the following changes to Helm CONNECT Logistics in this release.
Attach Documents to Fuel Prices in Fuel Tables
You can now attach supporting documents, such as fuel receipts and supplier price notices, to each fuel price in a fuel table on the Logistics > Tariffs > Fuel Tables tab. Previously, there was nowhere to keep proof of purchase with the price it supported.
When you view a fuel table, each saved fuel price shows an attachments icon with a badge showing how many files are attached. Click the icon to open the Attachments window, where you can:
Attach files, either with the Attach button or by dragging them into the window.
Download everything attached to that fuel price at once.
Delete a file you no longer need.
You can only attach files to a fuel price you've already saved, so save the fuel table first. If you delete a fuel price, or a whole fuel table, the attachments are deleted too.
Add Instructions to Your Events and Activities
You can now add instructions to an event type or an activity type so your crew can read them while they log an entry. Previously, the only place to explain an event or activity, or to list the steps that go with it, was in training or in a separate document.
We added a new Instructions field to the configuration for each event type and activity type, on the Setup > Events > Event Types and Setup > Events > Activity Types tabs. Type the text you want your crew to see, then choose where it shows:
Show only on shore
Show only on asset
Show on both
Hide on both
When instructions are set to show, they appear in a banner at the top of the entry window on the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab. The banner stays there while your crew fill in the entry.
The Instructions field is hidden by default, so nothing changes on your event types and activity types until an administrator sets it up.
More Attached Asset Statuses, and the Option to Rename Them
We added three new attached asset statuses on the Logistics > Dispatch > Attached Traffic tab, so you can see why an attached asset isn't in tow:
Not Picked Up + On Active Voyage Equipment: the asset is on the equipment list of an active voyage and is waiting to be picked up.
Not Picked Up + On Planned/Draft Voyage Equipment: the asset is on the equipment list of a planned or draft voyage.
Not Picked Up + Not on Any Equipment: the asset isn't on any voyage's equipment list, so it's waiting for orders.
Previously, all three fell under a single status, "Not Picked Up + No Voyage." The four statuses for assets that have been picked up haven't changed.
We also added a "Configure status" button to the legend, so you can rename each status and choose its color. Your changes apply to everyone in your company.
Improvements to Voyage Invoices and the Default Invoice Printout
We made a few improvements to voyage invoicing on the Logistics > Dispatch > Voyages tab:
Cleaner default printout: We tidied up the default invoice printout. The header no longer shows a fax placeholder or the "Sold To" and "Invoice Information" labels. Unit prices now show four decimal places, amounts show the currency symbol, and the footer note and reference details sit side by side at the bottom. If you've customized your invoice template, we haven't changed it.
Header and footer notes: You can now add two notes to an invoice: one that prints above the line items and one that prints below them.
Reference invoices from the current voyage: When you link a line item to a reference invoice, the list now shows only invoices from the current voyage instead of all invoices.
New units: We added Short Tons, Barrels, and Each to the Unit of Measurement list.
Longer descriptions: Line item descriptions can now be up to 500 characters, and the field expands automatically as you type.
Correct currency: The invoice preview and totals now show the symbol and name of the currency you select instead of always showing "$" and "USD."
We also made two improvements to orders. When you open an order on the Logistics > Dispatch > Orders tab, the voyage number on its Invoices sub-tab is now a link that takes you to the voyage. Order statuses now use the same colors as voyage statuses.
Log Events Automatically with GPS Auto-Logging
You can now connect a GPS device to an asset's primary onboard installation and have Helm CONNECT log events for you automatically. You turn each one on, asset by asset, in the new GPS Auto-Logging section on the Setup > Fleet > Fleet Installations tab. Your changes take effect on the asset without a restart. Here's what's new:
Asset Position events: The asset logs an Asset Position event at fixed times each day, for example at 04:00, 10:00, 16:00, and 22:00 ship's local time. Each event records the asset's position, closest location, speed, and course, so your captains no longer need to log positions manually.
Tax Zone Change events: Create your tax zones on the new Setup > Locations > Tax Zones tab and select them on your waterway segment taxes instead of typing the tax name. When the asset enters or leaves a tax zone, an event is logged automatically showing which zones it moved between.
River Confluence events: Define the points where two rivers meet on the new Setup > Locations > River Confluences tab. When the asset comes near a confluence or enters the other river, an event is logged automatically.
GPS Location History: Store the asset's position at a regular interval without adding events to the logbook, then retrieve the history through the Helm CONNECT API. Use it to confirm where an asset was at a specific time, or to plot its route on a map.
More about this feature:
We updated the permissions for this feature. See Helm CONNECT Permissions.
We updated our API for this feature. See Helm CONNECT API.
Round Event Times on Your Printed Traffic Report
You can now round the event times on your printed Traffic Report to the nearest 5 minutes, so the printout you email or hand to your customers is easier to read. We added a "Round event times to nearest 5 minutes" checkbox to the Print Traffic Report window on the Logistics > Dispatch > Traffic tab. Times that already fall on a 5-minute mark are left unchanged.
The rounding applies only to the printed report. The times recorded in your voyage logs don't change.
Voyage Start and End Dates Now Fill In from Your Planned Dates
You can now activate a voyage without re-entering dates you've already planned. Previously, when you changed a voyage's status from Planned to Active, Paused, or Complete on the Logistics > Dispatch > Voyages tab, the Start Date and End Date fields were empty and you had to fill them in by hand, even though they usually matched your planned dates.
When you change a voyage's status to Active, Paused, or Complete, the Start Date now fills in from the Planned Start Date. When you change the status to Complete, the End Date fills in from the Planned End Date. The dates stay fully editable, so you can adjust them if the voyage didn't go exactly as planned.
A date only fills in when the field is empty, so we never overwrite anything you've already entered.
Your Attached Asset Logs Now Sort Correctly by Event Time
We fixed an issue on the Onboard > Logs > Cargo tab that caused the Event Time column in the Attached Asset Cargo & Fluid Logs section to sort incorrectly. Sorting by Event Time put the rows in the order the dates read on screen rather than the order the events happened, so logs covering more than one month could look out of order.
Event Time now sorts by date and time everywhere in this section: the Fluids and Cargo sections, the totals table for each attached asset, and the table for each cargo hold.
Quickly Add Your Current Crew to Custom Fields on Events and Activities
We added a new Current Crew data source for the custom fields on your events and activities. When you add a custom field to an event type or an activity type with a select box or multi select box control type, you can now select Current Crew from the Data Source list.
Multi select box custom fields that use the Current Crew data source also display an Add Current Crew icon. Fill in the entry's date and time, then click the icon to add everyone who was onboard the asset at that time, rather than searching for each crew member and adding them one at a time.
Add Notes and Attachments to Your Live Diagrams
You can now add notes and attachments directly to a diagram on the Onboard > Logs > Live Diagrams tab. We added two new buttons next to the diagram that open a panel with Notes and Attachments tabs, so your team can keep updates and reference documents about a location's diagram in one place.
On the Notes tab, you can write a note, choose who posted it, and post it to the diagram. Recent notes appear below the note you're writing, and you can edit or delete a note if you need to make a correction.
On the Attachments tab, you can attach files to the diagram, or download all of them at once.
Configure Invoice Numbers for Your Voyage Invoices
You can now configure the invoice numbers for the invoices you generate from your voyages. Previously, voyage invoices used a fixed number format that you couldn't change.
We added a new Voyage Invoice transaction type on the Setup > Invoicing > Transaction Types tab, with its own invoice number rules. It comes with a default rule: sequential five-digit numbers, with no prefix or suffix. These are the same rules used in your other billing workflows, so you can set the prefix, suffix, number of digits, and starting number for your voyage invoice numbers. You can also add separate rules for different divisions.
When you generate an invoice from a voyage on the Logistics > Dispatch > Voyages tab, the Transaction Type field now defaults to the Voyage Invoice type, and the invoice number follows your configured rule. If you're switching from another invoicing system, set the starting number so your voyage invoice sequence picks up where it left off.
Set Logbook Preferences for Your Whole Tenant
We added a new Logbook section to the Setup > Tenant Preferences tab, with two settings for the Onboard > Logs > Logbook tab:
Logbook defaults to today: Turn this on and the Logbook always opens to today's date. Leave it off and it remembers the date you last selected.
Widget Display Order: Set the order your Logbook widgets appear in.
More Snippet Options for Your Logbook Description
When you configure an event, you now have more snippet options for the logbook description, so you can control what goes into the "Description" field when someone logs the event. The new snippets are Asset Name, Barge (Attached asset), From/To Asset, and From/To Amount.
See More Attached Asset Names on the Traffic Tab
You can now see up to six attached asset names in the "Attached:" field on the Logistics > Dispatch > Traffic tab. Previously you saw up to three names, and anything beyond that showed as a count. When there are seven or more attached assets, you'll still see the count.
Load an Attached Asset Without Setting Up Capacity Units First
You can now load an attached asset for the first time without setting up its capacity units. Previously, you had to configure them before that first load.
Helm CONNECT Personnel
We made the following changes to Helm CONNECT Personnel in this release.
Every Certifications Tab Now Has Its Own Icon
We added a unique icon to each of the tabs under Management > Certifications, so you can tell them apart at a glance. We also updated the Certifications icon on the Management menu and on the Management > People > Certifications tab.
Filter and Search Your Certification Requests and History
You can now filter and search in the Requests and History views on the Management > Certifications > Crew Certifications tab, so you can narrow down long lists of pending renewal requests or inactive certifications instead of scrolling through them. You get the same filter options you already have in the Active view.
Searching by name is no longer case-sensitive, so you'll find a crew member however you capitalize their name.
When you open a person's record on the Onboard > Personnel > Crew tab, you'll see the filter but not the search on their Certifications sub-tab, since that view shows one person's certifications.
Choose How Many Rows to Show at a Time
You can now choose how many rows appear at a time on the Management > Certifications > Crew Certifications tab, so you can work through long certification lists with less clicking. Use the Page Size list at the bottom of the tab to show 10, 25, 50, or 100 rows, and Helm CONNECT remembers your choice.
See Certification Warnings Without an Extra Click
We improved how certification warnings appear on crew changes, so when a crew member has only one or two warnings you'll see them right away instead of having to click "Show." When there are three or more warnings, the list stays collapsed so the screen doesn't get crowded. You'll find this on the Personnel > Schedule > Crew Changes and Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tabs.
See Payroll Class Changes in a Person's Change Log
You can now see payroll class changes in the Change Log when you open a person's record on the Management > People > People tab, so you have a complete record of payroll changes alongside the base rate and payroll group entries that were already there.
We also fixed a few things in the change log:
The row type now shows Base Rate instead of DEFAULT_VALUE.
Row summaries are now consistent, instead of sometimes showing a stray "-" that looked like a negative number or repeating the person's name.
Base rates and payroll classes you haven't touched no longer appear as removed and added again.
Compare Date Fields Directly in Payroll Scheme Conditions
You can now use a Formula (Date) condition on any target in any section of a payroll scheme, not just under Bank Transfers, so you can compare two date fields directly in sections like Rates, Extra Pay, Bank Accruals, and Bank Withdrawals. When you open a payroll scheme on the Setup > Payroll > Payroll Schemes tab, choose Formula (Date) just as you'd choose a numeric Formula condition, and each side of the formula is a date field instead of a number. You can compare them with greater-than, less-than, or "on date," which is useful for rules that need to check whether two dates fall on the same calendar day, ignoring the time.
Add Multiple Crew Changes Without Reopening the Window
You can now keep the Single Crew Change window open after you save, so you can add several crew changes in a row without reopening it each time. On the Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tab, select the Stay Open checkbox in the Single Crew Change window before you save. When the window stays open, it also remembers your Crew Change Type selection, Crew On or Crew Off, along with the date and time you chose.
Position Now Auto-Fills When You Add Crew to a Crew Change
You can now add crew to a crew change without choosing their position each time. When you select a crew member in the Crew On section, the Position field fills in automatically with their assigned position. You'll find this on the Personnel > Schedule > Crew Changes and Onboard > Personnel > Crew Changes tabs.
Previously, if their position group didn't have a position configured for them through a manning requirement, the field was left blank and you had to choose one yourself. The field stays editable, so you can still change the position when it needs to be different.
Configure Which Fields Appear on Crew Change Forms
You can now choose which fields appear on your crew change forms. We made five fields configurable on the Setup > Personnel > Schedule Custom Fields tab:
Locations
Description
Cost Center
Notes
Position Group
You can show or hide each one separately for shore and onboard. All five are visible by default.
Improvements to the Crew Scheduling Module
We made the following improvements to the Crew Scheduling module:
Filters are remembered: The Vessel Assignment Report now remembers your filter selections, and the Planned vs Actual Dates list in the Schedule remembers your selection.
CSV and Excel export on every schedule report: Export Schedule Data, Export Time Off Data, Export Current Crew, the Crew Change Report, and the Lay Days Report now all offer the same two export options already available on Notification History: a copyable CSV link for quick pastes into another system, and a full Excel (.xlsx) download for sharing. Where a report's Excel output has multiple tabs, the CSV contains the raw data tab only.
More information on the Crew tab: The Crew tab can now display certain standard fields from a person's record, plus your custom fields, all read-only. Use the Columns button to choose which columns are shown.
Safe Manning exceptions are complete: When the Safe Manning bar raises a warning for missing or expired position-based certifications, those certifications now appear in the exception list, so you can see exactly what is driving the warning rather than having to go looking for it.
Improvements to the Work Rest Module
We added a change log to your Work Rest settings, so changes to your organization's settings are recorded and reviewable. You'll find it as a new menu item when you open your Work Rest settings. Keep in mind that the change log starts recording when you upgrade, so changes made before then won't appear.
Improvements to the Timesheets Module
We added a change log to your Timesheets settings, so changes to your organization's settings are recorded and reviewable. You'll find it as a new menu item when you open your Timesheets settings. Keep in mind that the change log starts recording when you upgrade, so changes made before then won't appear.
Crew Scheduling Issues Addressed
We addressed the following issues in the Crew Scheduling module:
Expired certifications are always flagged: The Schedule now warns you when a certification has passed its expiry date, regardless of whether an expiry date is mandatory for that certification type.
Archived assets no longer create phantom conflicts: Crew changes attached to archived assets are now excluded from conflict checking, removing warnings for assets you have already retired.
Asset search is predictable again: Searching the asset list now shows you which field matched, including IMO and MMSI, so a search that returns an apparently unrelated asset makes sense at a glance.
Crew tab availability filtering: Adding leave for one person and saving no longer causes a previously filtered-out person to reappear in the list. Repeated edits now filter correctly.
Toolbar at any zoom level: Schedule toolbar controls no longer get clipped when you zoom your browser in or out.
Collapsed assets at the bottom of the Schedule: The expand control on the last collapsed asset is no longer obscured by the Crew view label. You can now scroll past the final row to reach it.
Vessel Assignment Report crew coverage: Crew joining or leaving on a boundary date are now included in the report instead of being dropped.
Work Rest Issues Addressed
We addressed an issue where the Next 96 Hours quick filter sometimes wasn't consistently on. It now stays on until you deliberately turn it off.
Timesheets Issues Addressed
We addressed the following issues in the Timesheets module:
Column settings: Every standard column can now be hidden, so you can strip each timesheets screen back to the fields your team actually uses. Previously, choosing to disable certain timesheets columns had no effect and the column stayed on screen. The columns that must always be present, Date plus Crew on the Logistics, Onboard and Payroll views, are locked and clearly marked as such.
Unsaved changes: Navigating away from a timesheet with unsaved edits now prompts you before your changes are lost.
Helm CONNECT Analytics
We made the following changes to Helm CONNECT Analytics in this release.
Maintenance Pro
Get a Clearer View of Your Checklists on the Maintenance Pro Dashboard
We improved the Maintenance Pro dashboard so you can see the state of your maintenance checklists more easily. The Open / Closed toggle now switches the whole view between outstanding and completed work, and you can click any tile or chart to filter everything else on the dashboard.
We also added:
Overdue heatmaps and bar charts: See which assets and divisions are behind on their checklists.
A failure analysis section: See recurring No / Fail responses by asset, checklist, and checklist item, so you can spot quality problems as well as late work.
A due date heatmap: See where open checklists are building up, by asset or division against how soon they're due.
A Cumulative Reading tile: Filter straight to your Running Hours checklists without going through the frequency filters.
Compliance Pro
Filter the Incident & Near Miss Dashboard by Asset Division
We updated the Division filter on the Incident & Near Miss dashboard so it filters by asset division instead of form template division. When you select a division, you'll see data for the assets in that division, which gives you a more accurate picture of incidents and near misses across your fleet.
Logistics Pro
Get a Clearer Picture of Your Interchange Activity
We updated the Interchange dashboard so you can see more clearly how your fleet uses and supplies competitor resources. You can now:
See whether your company is a net buyer or net seller of tug capacity, with totals for jobs bought and sold and your buy/sell ratio.
Track monthly trends in bought and sold jobs, so you can tell whether you're relying more on outside capacity over time.
Find which ports and areas have the highest demand for competitor tugs, and where your own tugs are being loaned out.
See which competitor companies you hire from most often, and which buyers or customers hire your resources.
Break down bought and sold jobs by trip type, so you can see what kind of work drives your interchange activity.
Use the new Interchange Config button to control how jobs with a blank Awarded To or Resource Owner are treated, either as your company, as a competitor, or excluded from Bought/Sold entirely.
See Recent Asset Activity on the Vessel Utilization Dashboard
We added an Asset Activity Details tab to the Vessel Utilization dashboard, so you can see recent activity and availability for your assets in one place. The tab includes two new charts:
Daily Activities by Asset – Last 7 Days: See how each asset spent its time over the past seven days, with hours split across Working, Standby, Out of Service, Shipyard/Drydock/Maintenance, and No Activity. Hover over any bar for a breakdown in hours and percentages.
Days Out of Service by Asset: See which assets have the most Out of Service days, so you can identify the ones that need attention.
General Improvements
Read Your Charts More Easily with Subtitles
We added subtitles to the charts on our redesigned dashboards, so it's easier to tell what each chart shows and how to read it. We're rolling this out gradually and will add subtitles to more dashboards over time.
Helm CONNECT Reports
We made the following changes to our reports in this release. These changes may also affect report data linked to systems outside Helm CONNECT, such as Power BI. Please contact your account manager if you have questions.
AP Transactions
We added an Area column, which returns the area for both manual transactions and regular transactions.
AR Transactions
We added an Area column, which returns the area for both manual transactions and regular transactions.
Audits
We added a new Tasks branch under Findings, for the tasks you create from audits. We also added a new Type (Task) filter.
Corrective Actions
We updated this data source so the Finished By column now also includes vendors on corrective actions completed by vendors.
Crew Certifications
We updated the names of our crew certifications reports so it's clear which ones go with which version of the Crew Certifications module. For the new version of the module, "Crew Certifications 2" is now "Crew Certifications." For the legacy version, "Crew Certifications" is now "Crew Certifications (Legacy)," "Crew Certifications (Alternate)" is now "Crew Certifications (Legacy - Alternative)," and "Crew Certification Templates" is now "Crew Certification Templates (Legacy)." Keep in mind that the name "Crew Certifications" now belongs to the report for the new version of the module, so if you've been using the report called "Crew Certifications" with the legacy version, look for "Crew Certifications (Legacy)." Your saved custom reports and permissions aren't affected, because only the display names changed.
Crew Certifications - Missing
We added a new data source for reporting on missing crew certifications. It includes the same columns as the Crew Certifications data source, plus columns that show which requirement is causing each missing certification. The "Required By" column shows whether the certification is required for a specific position, a division, or all crew. The "Required in Division" filter matches the division set on the requirement exactly, so parent and child divisions aren't included.
Form Templates
We fixed an issue where extra rows could appear if you selected a division above your own in the division filter.
Payroll Class Assignments
We added a new data source for reporting on payroll class assignments across all your crew. Each row is one assignment record, showing the person's name, division, payroll group, payroll class, accounting code, effective date, and whether the assignment is protected. The data source includes historical records, not just currently active ones, and you can filter by date range, payroll group, division, asset, and payroll class.
Requisitions
We updated this data source so draft requisitions show "Draft" in the Status column.
Tasks
We added support for tasks from audits. The Source column shows the audit name, the Source Type filter has new Internal Audit and External Audit options, and the Finished By column now also includes vendors on tasks completed by vendors.
Helm CONNECT Permissions
In this release, we made the following changes to the permissions on the Setup > Users > Roles tab.
Compliance > Audits > Settings > Add Tasks On Audits
We added a new permission that controls who can create a task from a finding on an audit, using the new Add Task button. It applies on shore only, and it covers creating those tasks rather than working on them. It's turned on automatically when you upgrade for any tenant that already has Compliance > Audits > Audits, Compliance > Audits > History, or Compliance > Audits > Settings > Edit Audit Sidebar. It isn't added to any role automatically, so you'll need to add it to each role that should create tasks from findings. Until you do, only users with the default Admin role see the Add Task button.
Notes
We added a new Notes section to the permission tree, between Management and Reports, with three new permissions that control who can work with other people's notes:
Can Post/Edit Notes Using Another Person's Name: Lets users post or edit a note under someone else's name.
Can Edit Notes By Other People: Lets users change notes written by someone else.
Can Delete Notes By Other People: Lets users remove notes written by someone else.
All three are available to every tenant, on shore and onboard, and all three are added to every role when you upgrade, so nothing changes for your users on upgrade day. Clear them from any roles that shouldn't have them.
Keep in mind that assets with Multi User Sign On turned off always keep the Posted By list, whatever the role says, so crew sharing one login can still record who wrote each note.
Notes > Notifications
We moved four note notification permissions from Extras into the new Notes > Notifications section:
Send Corrective Action Note Notifications
Send Task Note Notifications
Send Requisition Note Notifications
Send Form Note Notifications
What they do hasn't changed, and your existing settings carry over automatically for both tenants and roles. If you've been looking for them under Extras, you'll now find them under Notes > Notifications.
Reports > Reports > Data Sources
We added new permissions that control access to two new report data sources:
Crew Certifications - Missing: Turned on automatically when you upgrade for any tenant or role that already has access to the Crew Certifications data source.
Payroll Class Assignments: Turned on automatically when you upgrade for any tenant or role that already has access to the Payroll Transactions data source.
We also renamed these permissions:
"Crew Certifications 2" is now "Crew Certifications."
"Crew Certifications" is now "Crew Certifications (Legacy)."
"Crew Certifications (Alternate)" is now "Crew Certifications (Legacy - Alternative)."
"Crew Certification Templates" is now "Crew Certification Templates (Legacy)."
Setup > Locations > GPS Auto-Logging
We added a new GPS Auto-Logging section under Setup > Locations, with a parent permission and four child permissions:
Asset Position: Lets users configure Asset Position events to be logged automatically from a GPS device plugged into the onboard install.
Tax Zones: Lets users configure events to be logged automatically when an asset enters a new waterway tax zone.
River Confluences: Lets users configure events to be logged automatically at a river confluence.
GPS Location History: Lets users record GPS location history.
These permissions are turned off at the tenant level by default. To use them, ask your account manager to turn them on.
Helm CONNECT API

We added new source types for tasks created from audits.

api/v2/public/assetlocations
We added a new endpoint for retrieving an asset's auto-logged GPS position history, including position, river and mile, speed, and course.
api/v2/public/correctiveactions
We added a "CompletedByVendors" field. We also added POST and PATCH support to this endpoint, which previously supported GET only.

We added a "CompletedByVendors" field. The existing "SourceType" and "Source" fields now support Audits as a source type.
api/v2/public/transactions
We updated this endpoint so the "FindAccountId" parameter now works for inactive accounts.
