Set Up Ships

Use the Setup > Ships > Ships tab to build and manage a list of all the ships you perform work for. You can also add the ships your competitors perform work for. We recommend that you add your ship types and cargo types to Helm CONNECT before adding any ships.

Add a Ship

To add a new ship

1. On the Setup > Ships > Ships tab, click New Ship.
2. In the Ship field, enter a name for the ship.
3. (Optional) From the Ship Type list, select the ship type for this ship.

   Note

   Manage your list of ship types on the Setup > Ships > Ship Types tab.

4. (Optional) In the IMO Number field, enter the IMO number of the ship.

   Note

   Helm CONNECT is configured to use the IMO number of an asset, resource, or ship to locate it using a custom tracking system provided by ShipTracks, our preferred vendor. Once you enter a valid IMO number for a particular asset, resource, or ship in Helm CONNECT, you'll be able to locate it with the default AIS tracking system. 5. Complete any other fields that you want to report on or that will be used for billing.
6. (Optional) To add a custom field that will apply to all your ships, click New Custom Field and define the field parameters as required.
7. To save your changes, click Save Changes.

Edit a Ship

You can update the details about an existing ship.

To edit a ship

1. Go to the Setup > Ships > Ships tab.
2. From the list, click the ship you want to edit and click Edit.
3. Make any necessary changes.
4. To save your changes, click Save Changes.

Delete a Ship

You can delete any of your existing ships.

To delete a ship

1. Go to the Setup > Ships > Ships tab.
2. From the list, click the ship you want to delete.
3. Click Delete, then click Delete again in the confirmation message.

Review and Edit a Ship's Orders

From the Ships tab, you can review and edit the orders for selected ships, filtered by area and date.
