What are fleet roles?
You must assign a fleet role to each asset installation to control the features users see when they log into that installation. Only permissions included in both the fleet role and the user’s role will be available to the user when they log into the installation.
Let’s look at an example:
Fleet Role Permissions
- Onboard > Logbook
- Onboard > Inventory > Parts
- Onboard > Logs > Wheelhouse
User 1 Role Permissions
- Onboard > Logbook
- Onboard > Personnel > History
User 2 Role Permissions
- Onboard > Logbook
- Onboard > Logs > Wheelhouse
- Onboard > Overview > To Do
When logged into the asset installation, User 1 will only see features from Onboard > Logbook, and User 2 will see features from Onboard > Logbook and Onboard > Logs > Wheelhouse. However, even though the Fleet role includes the Onboard > Inventory > Parts permission, neither user has that permission in their role so neither of them will see those features. In addition, even though User 1 has the Onboard > Personnel > History permission and User 2 has the Onboard > Overview > To Do permission, the fleet role doesn’t include either of those permissions so neither user will see those features when logged into the asset installation.
How do I create a new fleet role?
